Review: Capital Encounters by Dawn Wright

When a promotion to junior recruiter affords her the chance to move across the bridge into DC, Summer—a free bird—quickly sheds her loner lifestyle after she meets, Emily, a class act whose heart is still tied to her ex-husband; Brooke, a career-driven woman looking for love who wants to have it all; and Amber, the fearless pianist who makes a living off her flings.

Summer’s life begins to go as planned, until she meets a hot Cuban at a party who will change her life forever. What starts off as a “harmless affair” with Ruben Sotolongo, turns out to be a perilous situation as she struggles with her temptation to play with fire. Soon, Summer realizes that she must walk away from him before it’s too late. At the same time, Summer’s friends slowly find the tide turning against them. Brooke will have to face a deal breaker after finding love; after months of suffering, Emily’s chance at healing is threatened by an impediment least likely of all places; and when Amber accidentally betrays someone dear to her and underestimates the personality of a client, she realizes that her flings may not exactly be all fun and games. Will they make it out of the turmoil bruised and battered or stronger than ever?

Sexy, edgy, dramatic and smoothly written.

Four different women, four stories, one book.

Author Dawn Wright takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions along with four fictional women and I'm damn sure that every reader will have at least one of them to relate to. She has brought us a book revolving around the lives of four very different women, each one of which is haunted by her own demons.

At first I was a bit skittish to read "Capital Encounters" as I am not a fan of books with so many lead characters, but it came out to be great, it was beautifully written and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. This book is about four ordinary women who have made some foolish mistakes and stupid decisions in life. All of them have different definitions of love.  The main characters- Summer, Amber, Emily and Brooke had completely different personalities but nevertheless, they sticked together.

Summer- Job recruiter during the day, lover at night.

Amber- Piano Teacher during the day, sleeps for money at night.
Brooke- Wedding planner during the day, romantic girlfriend at night.
Emily- Third grade teacher during the day, distraught ex-wife at night.

The story was intriguing and full of love with heart-ripping emotions. There came a point when I wanted  to scream and cry and shake some sense into them for all the stupid things they did.

Capital Encounters was a perfect blend of angst, laughter, sass and hotness. This book made me feel so many emotions from happy to sad to frustrated to laughing my ass out. So all in all Capital Encounters was refreshing and unique and I had great time reading it. I highly recommend this book.

This was Dawn's first debut novel and she did a tremendous job. She has a good hold over storytelling. It's like she fills life in the fictional characters. The best part of her writing was the jumps in time and the switching between the lead characters.

Summer- 3.5 Stars
Emily- 3.5 Stars
Brooke- 3.5 Stars
Amber- 3.5 Stars

BOOK REVIEW: BOUND BY VENGEANCE(born in blood mafia chronicles #5 ) BY CORA REILLY

He’d never had something to himself, never even dared to dream about owning something so precious. He was the unwanted bastard son who’d always had to content himself with the leftovers of others. And now they’d given him what only a few weeks ago had been out of his reach, someone he wasn’t even allowed to admire from afar, one of their most prized possessions. Thrown at his feet because he was who he was because they were certain he would break her. He was her punishment, a fate worse than death, a way to deliver the ultimate punishment to her father who had displeased them so greatly.

She had always been the good girl. It didn’t protect her.
She didn’t know his real name. People called him Growl to his face and the Bastard behind his back. Both were names he couldn’t possibly have chosen for himself. His eyes were empty, a mirror to throw back her own fear at her. He was a brutal hand of the Las Vegas Camorra.
And now she was at his mercy.

Review: Every Time It Rains by Nikita Singh

Love is a dangerous thing. It brings with it great joy, and opens you up to pain. But does one really have the courage to say no and look the other way?

Laila is yet to recover from her painful past. Hurt, and untrusting of love, she is fully immersed in work, her only source of cheer. Her bakery franchise is very popular and she just might be able to go national, if she can pull off that big deal.

Just when things are looking up, along comes JD, an impetuous, free-spirited creature to stir up the calm. He's her exact opposite. Laila s self-destructive, he s life-affirming. She s cautious, he s buoyant. But here s the thing: he makes her feel the very things she wanted to forget. Stirring a familiar passion she longed for but had lost the courage to pursue.
They are irrepressibly drawn to each other but will she ever be able to trust him? Every Time It Rains is the story of every girl who has ever had her heart broken. And fallen in love again.
