QUICK REVIEW- The Nine Chambered Heart by Janice Pariat

'You, though, are as beautiful as light splitting through glass.' Nine characters recall their relationship with a young woman - the same woman - whom they have loved, or who has loved them. We piece her together, much as we do with others in our lives, in incomplete but illuminating slivers. Set in familiar and nameless cities, moving between east and west, The Nine-Chambered Heart is a compendium of shifting perspectives that follows one woman's life, making her dazzlingly real in one moment, and obscuring her in the very next. Janice Pariat's exquisitely written new novel is about the fragile, fragmented nature of identity - how others see us only in bits and pieces, and how sometimes we tend to become what others perceive us to be.

I'm wholeheartedly in love with the imagination of Janice Pariat. I don't know how she did what she just did in this book but nevertheless, she did an amazing job.

'The Nine Chambered Heart' is a perfect blend of love, lust, affection, companionship, dreams and desires.

The plot is the type, that can be called 'complicated'. Yes you heard me right, I found it a bit complicated.

The story revolves around the life of a woman, through the viewpoint of nine characters who has previously loved her or whom she has loved at some point in her life.

Sounds interesting right? it definitely is.

I'm not going to reveal the plot any further because it would spoil all the fun of reading.

Umm.. I quite liked the book. The writing style was a bit poetic but still exquisite and up to the mark. The plot was quite interesting and gripping. The story completely consumes the reader's attention and that's the quality of a good book. Moreover, the whole structure was constructed amazingly with a poetic touch to it.

The nine different point of views! It was just so refreshing, reading something so unique.

I'd recommend this book to all the chance-takers out there. If you are looking to read something refreshing and distinctively unique, this book is perfect for you.

BOOK REVIEW: BOUND BY VENGEANCE(born in blood mafia chronicles #5 ) BY CORA REILLY

Growl
He’d never had something to himself, never even dared to dream about owning something so precious. He was the unwanted bastard son who’d always had to content himself with the leftovers of others. And now they’d given him what only a few weeks ago had been out of his reach, someone he wasn’t even allowed to admire from afar, one of their most prized possessions. Thrown at his feet because he was who he was because they were certain he would break her. He was her punishment, a fate worse than death, a way to deliver the ultimate punishment to her father who had displeased them so greatly.

Cara
She had always been the good girl. It didn’t protect her.
She didn’t know his real name. People called him Growl to his face and the Bastard behind his back. Both were names he couldn’t possibly have chosen for himself. His eyes were empty, a mirror to throw back her own fear at her. He was a brutal hand of the Las Vegas Camorra.
And now she was at his mercy.

ARC Review: Intrepid by Keri Lake

In the corner house of an empty street, there is a boy inside a box. In that boy, there lives a secret, one so dark, it’s sealed with locks.

Nearly ten years have passed since the night I was captured. Tricked and betrayed, I suffered the hours of brutal torment with death’s cold whisper across my skin. And when the nameless faces that haunted my nightmares took everything and everyone I loved, I feared I’d never be free of the darkness.
But that's the thing about fear. Over time, it breeds anger, and when anger fills the box, vengeance bleeds out.
It's been almost a decade since I escaped their hell, staying in the shadows, hiding my demons, and God help them now that I've tasted retribution and crave more of it.
Blood is the price for pain, and I vow to take everything and everyone they love. I’m no longer a frightened boy, but the intrepid vigilante, a ruthless executioner, who will stop at nothing to punish the depraved few that stole my life and walked free.

The plan …
