ARC REVIEW: Blemishing the Odds by Harish Penumarthi

32565856
Say hello to Raghav, an immature, insensitive person who is apathetic about everyone else except himself. His life revolves around his parents and his friends. He is among the bad books of all his Teachers.

Until one day, when Trisha, a new entrant; mesmerizes him at the very first glance. He finds a friend, savior, nurturer and an inamorata in her. Just when he thinks that everything has been set out in a picture perfect manner, life throws a series of ghastly surprises at him. Will he change for good or stick to his immature stand of “My Life, my rules” and screw it all up?

This tale journeys across all the ups and downs a student could possibly encounter. The transformations that a student may endure, the courage and guts one needs to have in order to dodge all predicaments and eventually sketch the perfect end to all his agonies.

Light, funny and emotional read which leaves you with positivity and happy thoughts in the end.

Blemishing the odds is so different from the books I generally read but it was good. The one word that can into my mind after finishing the book was RELATABLE. Yes this book was damn relatable.

Being an Indian, I related to the characters very easily. Blemishing the odds focuses on the problems of a normal Indian teenager. We from our very childhood are taught to focus on our studies and stay away from relationships because love affair is not good thing and all that but is it a crime to love someone? I don't think so.

So blemishing the odds centers around Raghav and Trisha, two completely opposite individuals. They are as opposite as it comes. The story covers different phases of their teen life. This book has friends to best friends to lovers vibe and also the childhood love troupe. So coming back to the story, Raghav is a rebel. His life revolves around his parents and friends. He has my life my rules sort of attitude.
He is careless, immature and insensitive. He is awful in his studies and comes in the bad books of his teachers.

Trisha on the other hand is a perfect daughter and a perfect student, studying and well scoring well. She is the definition of good girl. As the story picks up pace, they both develop a friendly relationship. With Trisha's support, Raghav tries to improve. It's like Trisha is his light and lights his path.

But due to certain circumstances their bond becomes weak and Raghav becomes his old self. He even gets into smoking and drinking and becomes his own enemy but one incident turns his life upside down and he becomes a perfectionist, a winner. He realises that life is not a joke and in order to get something hard-work is an essential requirement but will Raghav and Trisha ever get back together? What influenced Raghav to change himself? Will Trisha and Raghav have their happily ever after?

This book was good enough to read but the story was not that developed. I liked the starting but the story did have an open sort of ending. Some of the things like switching to weed and alcohol at the age of 15 or 16 to cope up with the studies really bothered me. There were certain things that bugged me but all in all it was a fair read.

BOOK REVIEW: BOUND BY VENGEANCE(born in blood mafia chronicles #5 ) BY CORA REILLY

Growl
He’d never had something to himself, never even dared to dream about owning something so precious. He was the unwanted bastard son who’d always had to content himself with the leftovers of others. And now they’d given him what only a few weeks ago had been out of his reach, someone he wasn’t even allowed to admire from afar, one of their most prized possessions. Thrown at his feet because he was who he was because they were certain he would break her. He was her punishment, a fate worse than death, a way to deliver the ultimate punishment to her father who had displeased them so greatly.

Cara
She had always been the good girl. It didn’t protect her.
She didn’t know his real name. People called him Growl to his face and the Bastard behind his back. Both were names he couldn’t possibly have chosen for himself. His eyes were empty, a mirror to throw back her own fear at her. He was a brutal hand of the Las Vegas Camorra.
And now she was at his mercy.

ARC Review: Intrepid by Keri Lake

In the corner house of an empty street, there is a boy inside a box. In that boy, there lives a secret, one so dark, it’s sealed with locks.

Nearly ten years have passed since the night I was captured. Tricked and betrayed, I suffered the hours of brutal torment with death’s cold whisper across my skin. And when the nameless faces that haunted my nightmares took everything and everyone I loved, I feared I’d never be free of the darkness.
But that's the thing about fear. Over time, it breeds anger, and when anger fills the box, vengeance bleeds out.
It's been almost a decade since I escaped their hell, staying in the shadows, hiding my demons, and God help them now that I've tasted retribution and crave more of it.
Blood is the price for pain, and I vow to take everything and everyone they love. I’m no longer a frightened boy, but the intrepid vigilante, a ruthless executioner, who will stop at nothing to punish the depraved few that stole my life and walked free.

The plan …
