BOOK REVIEW: OBSIDIAN BY JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT

12578077
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

So guys I am going to be completely honest here, I seriously didn't think that I would like a book with a hero who is actually an alien. But holy moley...did I love this book. Actually I am in awe of this book. This book CAPTURED my attention from its very first page.

Daemon *fans self*...OMG Daemon...I am literally in love with this guy(and he is an alien) but oh so sexy alien...I think I'm gonna turn into a puddle of mush (please ignore my mushiness). Believe me guys u are definitely going to fall for this alien once u read the book. And for the love of god almighty he goes all alpha male on katy (which makes me swoony again).

Katy is a bold character...which adds to their chemistry. I mean an alpha male needs a bold female (I think u get me). Their chemistry is off the charts. What can I say about the sexual tension....for the love of god I felt it (I know it's quite funny but it's true).

So katy and her mom moves to a small town in an effort to 'start over' after her dad's death and katy has a book blog. There she meets daemon Black (oh so hot daemon) who is actually her neighbour. Daemon lives with her sister Dee. Dee and katy forms an instant bond like best friends forever types but daemon is against their friendship.

katy soon senses that something is off about daemon...something is not right about his deeply shining green eyes, about his egoistical attitude. They kind of have haters to lovers sort of relationship and the sexual tension is undeniable. Daemon hates Katy's guts which is also a major turn on for him.

Author's writing style is freaking lovable and once you start reading, it is hard to put the book down.

“I have a strange idea that I should test this out.”
“Test what?” My eyes dropped to his lips. I felt myself sway.
“I think you would like to know.” He moved closer, his hand sliding up my arm and resting carefully at the nape of my neck.

OMG this sort of writing and I am a goner.

The book moved at a comfortable pace....but their chemistry was so intense that I was biting my nails the entire time. There came a time when i wanted to shove them at each other and tell them to kiss already.
Their regular banter added the much needed humour. Big bad villains are also their ....so you can expect a lot of action. And believe me 'overprotective daemon' is dreamy.

Guys you are going to love this book just dig into it...literally forget everything and start reading.

"But one thing this is a five book series so be prepared for a reading marathon"

This book is different from other romances.....the couple is actually not a couple for the entire book 1 ....but we come to know that somehow the have a connection that most couples don't.

so overall the book is quite exciting, angsty, romantic, mushy all at once.

I devoured this book! I loved every single scene... Honestly, I just can't think of anything that bothered me here or that I didn't like. Anything! Maybe this is just the new fangirl me talking, but I don't know, this book definitely deserves 5 stars.

PS-the book should be made into a movie.
MUST READ

BOOK REVIEW: BOUND BY VENGEANCE(born in blood mafia chronicles #5 ) BY CORA REILLY

Growl
He’d never had something to himself, never even dared to dream about owning something so precious. He was the unwanted bastard son who’d always had to content himself with the leftovers of others. And now they’d given him what only a few weeks ago had been out of his reach, someone he wasn’t even allowed to admire from afar, one of their most prized possessions. Thrown at his feet because he was who he was because they were certain he would break her. He was her punishment, a fate worse than death, a way to deliver the ultimate punishment to her father who had displeased them so greatly.

Cara
She had always been the good girl. It didn’t protect her.
She didn’t know his real name. People called him Growl to his face and the Bastard behind his back. Both were names he couldn’t possibly have chosen for himself. His eyes were empty, a mirror to throw back her own fear at her. He was a brutal hand of the Las Vegas Camorra.
And now she was at his mercy.

REVIEW-- Ira Oberoi's Pursuit of Love by Niti Chopra

Sparkling and zesty with a dash of green, a Virgin Mojito is a unique blend up and Ira is one lucky girl to have found her Mojito – tall and handsome with green eyes, he is in every definition the intoxication for her. In a twist of tales, the traditional concept of the boy wooing the girl goes for a toss. Smitten at first sight, she boldly pursues her love interest, every bit candid and upfront about it.

But what is a concoction if not for a heady mix of elements? Her descriptive personal diary falls in the hands of her mother who, on the verge of a cardiac arrest, forbids her from getting into a relationship with the guy she has fallen for.  Will Ira stand up for the love that she has found?Or will she be the ideal daughter and keep the promise for her mother’s sake?

Will hers be a love story that finds it difficult to have a sweet ending or will it be the perfect fairytale to be remembered down the years?

1. Devil In Winter (Wallflowers #3) By Lisa Kleypas
Some Quotes From Devil In Winter “Mysteries of attraction could not always be explained through logic. Sometimes the fractures in two separate souls became the very hinges that held them together.”  --------------
“If my love can hold you, I'll keep you with me.”
--------------
“Ah, Evie,” she heard him say softly, “I must have a heart, after all…because right now it aches like the devil.”
“Only your heart?” she asked ingenuously, making him laugh.
He lowered her to the bed, his eyes sparkling wickedly. “Also a few other things,” he conceded. “And as my wife, it’s your duty to ease all my aches.”

Plaza Requiem: Stories at the Edge of Ordinary Lives by Martha Batiz

Mexican-Canadian Martha Batiz has crafted, in her first collection written in English, visceral stories with piercing and evocative qualities. She has filled her recognizable, sisterly/motherly, and imaginative characters with qualities we all hold close to our hearts, but this is powerfully juxtaposed by the uncertainty that lurks at the edges of ordinary lives. Most often they are women, trapped in violent relationships, facing dangerous political situations, or learning to live with the pain of betrayal. Yet Batiz's stories shimmer with the emotional surge of vindication, evoking the rewards women attain after a powerful exploration of their darkest moments. As an emerging writer, Batiz crafts her stories with qualities reminiscent of Joyce Carol Oates, Shirley Jackson, and Cuban author Leonardo Padura: with precision, haunting vision, and the will to survive all odds.
